Made from my original hand-drawn artwork, each lightning bug is laser engraved and cut from American basswood, then carefully painted by hand and sealed with a durable, glossy protective finish. Basically, I spent a lot of time making tiny wooden bugs when I could have been doing something normal.

With black wings, bright red heads, and glittery yellow sparkle butts, these little bugs are inspired by one of my favorite signs of summer. They're perfect for nature lovers, bug enthusiasts, gardeners, or anyone who spent summer evenings running around the backyard trying to catch tiny blinking beetles with their bare hands.

Because every lightning bug is painted individually, small variations in color and detail are part of what makes each one unique. They don't actually light up, unfortunately. I looked into it. Glitter was easier.
